Heeter, Harper Back; Wedgewood Gone

The Albany Devils have called up Scott Wedgewood from ECHL Trenton.  Wedgewood takes the spot of Elmira’s Maxime Clermont, who has been filling in for Keith Kinkaid, who is in my current location of the Prudential Center, where he’ll be backing up Johan Hedberg tonight.

This season, Wedgewood’s first as a pro, has been a mixed bag.  He’s posted a 17-21-3-2 record with a 3.24 goals against average and .898 save percentage, as well as one shutout over the course of 44 games.

(Adirondack PR) The Adirondack Phantoms have announced that Cal Heeter (G) and Shane Harper (F) have been reassigned to the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, according to Philadelphia Flyers’ general manager Paul Holmgren.

For both players, it is their second assignment with Trenton.

Cal Heeter, 24, is a rookie goalie out of Ohio State and his move to Trenton now results in the Phantoms going back to two goalies on the roster; Scott Munroe and Michael Leighton.

Heeter had previously been with Trenton from January 24 through February 10 going 1-1-0 in 3 games with a 3.21 goals against average and .909 saves percentage. This year with Adirondack he is 8-13-2, 2.96, .906.

He signed with the Flyers organization last March after the 6’4″ native of St. Louis had a solid senior season with the Buckeyes going 13-11-5, 2.45, .918.

Shane Harper (24) is a third-year pro from Valencia, Cal. who has scored 4-3-7 in 41 games this season with the Phantoms. He played in 3 games with Trenton from January 2-10 scoring 2-2-4.

Last year with the Phantoms, he had 27 points including 13 goals, the most famous of which was on January 6, 2012 in the Outdoor Classic when he notched the overtime winner in front of 45,653 fans.

Harper spent much of his rookie season in the ECHL playing in Greenville, S.C. which was Adirondack’s affiliate at the time. He scored 22 goals in 48 games with the Greenville Road Warriors that year while also playing in 20 games with the Phantoms scoring 1 goal.

Both will be eligible to play in Trenton’s next game on Thursday night hosting the Elmira Jackals.
