Kessel Back From Adirondack

Well, this is interesting.  Just one day after the Titans added veteran defenseman Marvin Degon, reports by Diana Nearhos and Michael Cignoli out of Adirondack indicate that the Phantoms are returning blueliner Blake Kessel to the capital city.

The addition of Kessel now gives Trenton eight healthy defensemen, but only Kessel and Tyler Hostetter are on non-ECHL deals of the group.  However, with the status of Jacob Drewiske, Stephen Schultz and Andy Bohmbach in limbo, Trenton could have as few as nine healthy forwards for their upcoming three games in four nights stretch that starts on Wednesday.

Aaron Schmit is certainly capable of playing up front, however, so that would seem to be an option to clear up some of the clutter on the back end and bolster the forward lines.  As for Kessel, he skated in just three games for Adirondack, tallying no points and no penalty minutes.  This season with Trenton, he’s played in 31 contests and has posted four goals and 11 assists to date.
