Titans Add Five To Camp Roster

The Titans, despite having a large camp roster and a limited amount of spots given AHL players expected to come down, continue to add players before the start of the season.

Trenton added five players today, all on tryout agreements. Goaltenders Matthew DiGirolamo and Jody O’Neill will be joined by defensemen Gentry Zollars, Marcel Alvarez and Tyler Miller.  The team did not previously have a goaltender under contract.

DiGirolamo is an Ambler, PA native who played four seasons at the University of New Hampshire. He started during his junior season, playing in 39 games while posting a 22-11-6 record, 2.44 GAA and .923 save percentage.

O’Neill played his college hockey at Dartmouth, and started both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Although he only played 18 games over the last two years, he did manage to post a 2.50 GAA and .921 save percentage over the course of 13 contests during his senior season. He did get into one game with the Stockton Thunder last year, stopping all six shots he saw in a seven minute stint.

Both goaltenders could be viable options as a backup to the Flyers prospect heading to Trenton if the Devils don’t send anyone here.

Zollars, Alvarez and (I think) Miller are all names you know. Zollars and Alvarez played for the Titans last year, while Miller suited up for the Trenton Devils in 2010-11.

Zollars was plucked out of the Federal Hockey League when the Titans lost several defensemen in the middle of last season, and played relatively well in his 13-game stay. He tallied two assists and was a -5, which isn’t too shabby considering how defensively porous the team was as a whole last season.

After playing his college hockey at Army, Alvarez played in three games for the Titans. He did not register a point, and was even with two penalty minutes.

Miller, a fourth round pick of the Devils in 2006, played for three CHL teams last year after a disappointing, injury-riddled season in the capital city.

Alvarez is just here to workout before returning to Army. This Miller is from the BCHL, other guy I think went by TJ. Lots of spare parts in camp some decent guys are going to get cut.

Alvarez is going back to Army just here for camp. This Miller is from the BCHL. The Devils Miller got bounced around to 3 teams in the CHL last year.

It’s definitely the other Miller? I figured with all the guys they’re bringing back, they might have tried him again too…

I was wrong, it is the same TJ Miller as before.
