Wilson Heads To Europe; Cepis Acquired From Idaho

Forward Kelsey Wilson has left the team after just five games for an opportunity in Europe.

Forward Kelsey Wilson has left the team after just five games for an opportunity in Europe.

Well, here’s hoping nobody got too attached to Kelsey Wilson.

Wilson left the Titans today, accepting an offer to play overseas in Europe. The gritty 26-year-old forward will, for better or worse, likely be remembered by Trenton fans for his role in a line brawl at the end of their 3-0 loss to Greenville on November 24. He was subsequently fined an undisclosed amount and suspended two games by the league.

Wilson, who was acquired from the San Francisco Bulls in November for cash considerations, didn’t register a point in five games with the Titans and racked up 38 penalty minutes.

To take Wilson’s spot on the roster, the Titans have acquired forward Jacob Cepis from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for future considerations. Cepis, 24, is listed at 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, but is a proven point producer at this level.

With Idaho last season, the former Minnesota standout posted a 20-25-45 line in 57 regular season games and was on a point-per-game pace in nine playoff contests in 2011-12. This season, he’s scored six goals and added seven assists in 15 games, which put him seventh on that team in scoring. How badly needed is Cepis? Idaho has ELEVEN players with double-digit points…Trenton has four.

It is uncertain whether Cepis will join the team in time for their practice Wednesday morning, but he is certainly expected to be in uniform for the club’s three games in three nights trip down south to play South Carolina and Gwinnett.

In addition, Adirondack swapped Matt Konan with Matt Mangene…Konan had one assist (in his first game) in five games with Trenton, Mangene had one helper in four games with Adirondack.
